In Greek mythology the Cerberus is a three-headed monster that even the Greek gods feared. Legend has it that the Cerberus guarded the entrance to the underworld, preventing the dead from leaving and the living from entering. Images of the Cerberus vary but most depict a ravenous three-headed dog. Whatever he resembled, rest assured he wasn’t the prettiest thing to look at. However grotesque, it’s hard to argue with his discipline and effectiveness. Simply stated, nothing ever got by him. We have our own version of the Cerberus here at BakerAvenue. Our investment process relies on our own three-headed monster – technical, fundamental, and macro analysis. Each discipline can be effective in its own right, but we believe combining the insights from each fosters a more robust portfolio management process. Our philosophical approach to managing money leans heavily on risk control, and our version of the Cerberus has proven highly effective in that regard. By actively engaging and reviewing each discipline, we believe we can grow client assets while limiting downside risk. Click the button below for our review of Q3 and outlook going forward.
